In
the water wonderland that is the 1000 Islands, it's not surprising
that one of the most popular attractions in the region is
the scenic cruise - a real "must see" on any visitor's
trip. The region's many boat lines offer a variety of cruises,
typically ranging from one hour to three hours in length.
You can choose to travel on a modern glass-topped catamaran
or triple-decker cruise boats, paddle-wheel riverboats or
even an historic 1929 vintage wooden cruise boat.

Cruises leaving from Alexandria Bay, Clayton, Gananoque, Ivy
Lea and Rockport tour the central part of the 1000 Islands
region of the St Lawrence. Many of these cruises offer a stop-over
at historic Boldt Castle on Heart Island.
Tours leaving from Kingston cruise the western area of the
1000 Islands region between Kingston and Gananoque. Tours
leaving from Brockville cruise the eastern area of the 1000
Islands.
The cruising season runs from May through the fall color season
of October. Most lines offer frequent scheduled departures
between 9:30 am and 5:00 pm. Most cruises are narrated, providing
an entertaining commentary on the history and lore of the
1000 Islands. Typical cruise boats offer food and beverage
service aboard, and have enclosed, climate controlled decks
as well as open-air decks.
Specialty cruises including sunset, dinner and luncheon cruises
are also available.

Looking for a different perspective? Step aboard a colorful
hot air balloon or a classic DeHavilland Beaver floatplane
for a birds-eye view of the myriad islands, quaint villages
and the amazingly clear waters of the 1000 Islands.
